Excellent:- professionally prepared for resale and is in good running order, with an unmarked body and interior. Standard and optional equipment operates correctly. Normal wear and tear may be present but tyres, battery, exhaust system and brake pads/discs should not need replacing for another 5,000 miles.

Good:- Clean average condition, in good mechanical order, regularly serviced, with a service record. Major equipment works correctly. Body is rust-free with no evidence of repairs. No significant interior faults, apart from normal wear and tear on older cars. Deductions should be made for minor defects.

Fair:- below-average condition. This category covers cars that cannot be restored to clean condition.
